FDR’s New Deal, LBJ’s Great Society, Ronald Reagan’s stance against “Big Government”—all express different attitudes toward the role of government. Most of us go about our lives without paying too much attention to the impact of these attitudes. Today, though, we find ourselves living in a nation polarized by differing ideas about what government should—and should not—do for us. Our speakers will share their views on what the ideal role of government should be in meeting today’s challenges, with or without government involvement.
